She is a biologist graduated form the University of Costa Rica (1983), with a mastery in Ecology at Lawrence's University, Kansas, USA (1986). She has taken part in projects of institutional character and interdisciplinary environmental education, training and academical nature in topics regarding the conservation and community use of Biodiversity.The professional activities that she has developed in her professional exercise have been focused on the promotion of wild life community handling, the biology and culture of conservation and the integral and interdisciplinary discussion of its use of biodiversity elements with emphasis on the achievement of the most just and equitable distribution of the benefits derived from this use, the co-handling and other forms which promote the civil participation in the conservation of protected areas and natural resources.
